ARXX ICF & Helix steel fibers ..... a perfect match to save $ and time..

We are the first in the area to use HELIX steel fibers in the footings and walls (basement and two stories with 10 foot retaining walls) on a large ARXX ICF house in Arlington WA ( a D2 seismic zone). We poured the footings on July 14, 2011 and are panelizing the walls at this time. HElix, a structural alternative material to rebar, replaced all the rebar except the dowels at the cold joints and around the windows, doors and lintels. However, the rebar in these areas was much less than normally expected.

This is a 54" wide x 12" deep footing for a 10 foot high 8 inch retaining wall designed with Helix in a Seismic D2 Zone. Helix at 25#/cy replaced #5@14" O.C. V-bar, #4@10" O.C. H-bar, #5@12" O.C. T-bars. There was a huge labor savings and the concrete tested out at 3230 PSI @ 7 days with a 4K mix. Note the use of Fast Foot as the forming material. This product also saved time and money. This wall was reduced in width due to the use of 4K mix, ARXX ICF forms and Helix fibers. It was a 10 inch wall...... cost savings!
